VFR and IFR certifications

A VFR certification basically consists of certifying the aircraft transponder and is required every two years. The VFR certification should take less than an hour, making it convenient for personal schedules. Scheduling is recommended but not mandatory and the certification can often be completed on short notice. VFR transponder certifications are $100 flat-rate while repairs, if needed, will be extra at the current shop rate of $95/hr.

The IFR certification consist of testing the aircraft static system, transponder, altimeter and encoder. The IFR certification is required every two years. Since the altimeter must be removed from the aircraft to be recertified, the IFR certification normally requires about three to four hours to complete. Please call to schedule your IFR certifications in advance.

RVSM Recertification

The RVSM recertification process varies greatly with each aircraft per it’s supplemental type certificate (STC). Often times special tooling is required that will have to be rented from the STC holder, so call well in advance to schedule an RVSM recertification. We will need a copy of the instructions for continued airworthiness (ICAs) to determine if special tooling is required and minimize down time. Please provide the ICAs when you call.
